Much of the acting feels improvisational, and it is, but that doesn’t detract from its power. First-timer Untaru is a little miracle of winsomeness and wide-eyed innocence, and Pace plays off her perfectly with charm and desperation.

It’s easy to salute “The Fall” for its visual artistry, but its insight shouldn’t be overlooked. “The Fall” is a wonderful marriage of all types of creativity.
